Finding New Audiences Finding New Audiences Finding New Audiences

(Module Two of Two)

Finding New Audiences is an immersive exploration of major areas an artist must be familiar with to effectively promote their work to different target audiences. Over two sessions, we will explore the general principles, practices, and techniques of fostering artwork in today’s art market and cultural institutions of contemporary art.

Visual artists will have the chance to radically rethink the promotion process by exploring every significant facet of the communication tools currently in use in-depth. Topics covered include web presence, social media, portfolio design and networking through practice, lectures, and collaborative experimental projects.

The major takeaway for participants is the expertise they will acquire in designing an effective promotional strategy by optimizing their communication toolkit to the audiences they most want to reach. An essential part of the course is discussing funding, crowdfunding, and sponsorship issues that often govern contemporary photography projects. Subsequently, from this course, each participant will acquire the turn-key tools to promote their work, among other topics successfully.

This program is also presented in the MFA program of the School of Fine Arts in Athens, in the Bachelor & MFA program of FAMU, Department of Photography, Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
