TERMS AND CONDITIONS
As a small independent business, we value each reservation greatly. We invest considerable love, time, and energy into planning our experiences, but we must also make non-recoverable payments in advance to ensure their success. Please read our terms and conditions thoroughly before booking. By submitting your deposit, you confirm that you have read and accepted the terms and conditions on this page. Thank you for your understanding!
Deposit. When you book an experience, we require a non-refundable deposit of 35%. Your reservation is officially confirmed only once we receive your deposit. This deposit is also a down payment and will be deducted from your total amount.
Remainder fee. Please set a reminder for the remaining payment to be in our account at least one month before check-in. If we do not receive your payment on time, your spot will be made available again, and your deposit will be forfeited.
Changes & cancellation policy. More than a month before your check-in date: Depending on availability, you may change your participation to different dates within the same calendar year at no additional cost. If you cancel in full, the deposit will be forfeited. Less than a month before your check-in date: Changes are no longer possible. If you need to cancel within a month of your check-in date, no refund will be given. However, if you find a replacement, they are welcome to take your spot, pending our approval.
Our advice. This journey is a wonderful group experience, bringing together diverse individuals for a memorable time. While we strive to engage with each guest personally, it’s important to embrace the unique dynamics of our group, which means we may not always cater to every individual preference. We encourage you to be open-minded and welcoming, to meet new friends, enjoy a little time alone if you wish, and explore new foods and practices. Let’s navigate this adventure with emotional maturity, being aware of our feelings and those of others. Remember, there’s no one-size-fits-all in experiences like these; life may not always unfold as we hope, but these moments can lead to positive growth and valuable lessons rather than disappointment.
The Descover: Retreats provide hospitality: 1. Accommodation during the retreats (Rooms & bathrooms at the retreat are shared ). 2. Tickets to all the sites and excursions visited as part of the retreat and organized by Descoverartists. 3. Workshops organized by the Descoverartists. 4. Once-a-week dinners or drinks with the group organized by Descoverartists. 5. Online or live exhibition, depending on the circumstances, documenting the experience, the artists, and their work the following year.
Expectations: Cleaning and maintaining the house during our retreats is undertaken collectively. Residents are expected to respect the island, its inhabitants, the environment, animals, and local culture and to respect the other residents.
Access to technology: Residents should bring their equipment and materials (computers, etc.); however, please get in touch with us regarding the materials you need to see if we can assist. The Descover: Retreats take place on the islands of Greece, where it is limited to obtain tech/electronic materials. For this reason, residents should check what materials and equipment will be available and what they need to bring.
Living expenses: While there are a few expenses the residents need to consider while at the retreat, it is worth having funds for trips to local cafes and the like. Calculate approximately 15-50 euros a day for such incidentals.
Minimum number of participants: The retreats run only if a minimum number of participants is reached. If not, Descoverartists will inform all confirmed participants and issue a full refund for the retreat fee.
Retreat Changes: Once the retreat has been booked, you will be notified beforehand of any changes. However, we reserve the right to cancel it under any circumstances and will offer a full refund of the fee paid until then.
Damages to the house or other areas on the island: We are not responsible for any loss or damage caused by the artists during their stay at Descover: Retreats. The artists must adhere to the house rules established by the owners or pay any fees charged after checkout.
Cancellations and refunds: The deposit to secure a booking (35% of the retreat fee) is not refundable. The remaining payment has to be paid one month before the check-in date. Artists who do not submit the remainder of the cost by the deadline forfeit their deposit, the remainder submitted till that date, and their spot. In the case that an artist attending has chosen the option to pay the retreat fee in installments and has not submitted the full remainder fee by the dates stated above as the final deadlines, they forfeit their deposit, together with any installments submitted till that date, and their spot in the retreat. To cancel your spot, please send a cancellation request to the Descoverartists’ email address hello@descoverartists.com.
Travel & health insurance. Although no one intends to cancel a retreat, unforeseen circumstances can arise. Therefore, we strongly suggest obtaining travel insurance that provides coverage for cancellations. Participation in classes, hikes, and workshops is at your own risk. It's important to use your judgment in determining which movements, positions, exercises, and excursions are suitable based on your level of training, overall fitness, and mental well-being. If you reside outside the country where the retreat is hosted, you should have international health insurance that covers medical care and potential transport back home if necessary. Please note that we are not licensed therapists or psychologists. If you experience any mental health challenges, especially involving medication, please inform us in advance so we can assess together whether this trip is safe for both you and us.
Promotions and discounts: Two discounts cannot be combined. The biggest one automatically applies to your spot.
Terms and conditions changes: We reserve the right to update and/or change these terms and conditions at any time. It is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with them before booking with us. The latest terms and conditions can always be found above and will supersede any previous versions.
If we need to cancel your booking. We aim to promote every experience as best as possible, ensuring we have enough sign-ups and managing the house and our dedicated team to ensure everything goes off without a hitch! That said, as with any event, unexpected situations can pop up. Because of this, we kindly advise waiting to book your flights until about a month before your check-in date; at the same time, we’ll also be asking for your final commitment. We want you to know that we cannot take responsibility for any costs while preparing, like airline tickets, hotel reservations, loss of work, visa fees, or other related expenses. If, unfortunately, we need to cancel your participation, we’ll let you know right away, refund 100% of your payment, and we’ll be happy to provide alternative dates and a 10% discount on your next retreat! for the retreat
Our rights. We reserve the right to remove a guest from the experience if their behavior is disruptive; no refunds will be issued. We also reserve the right to hold guests responsible for any damages they cause to the house, nature, or belongings. Additionally, we reserve the right to change the program, instructors, or team members anytime. Thank you for understanding and respecting our terms and conditions.
Cookie & Privacy Policy: Protecting the personal data of visitors/customers is of utmost importance for Descoverartists. To this end, we protect the personal data that we process, and we ensure that this processing of personal data always complies with the legal requirements placed upon both our company and any third parties that process personal data in the name of our company. Visiting our page, descoverartists.com, you can fill out a contact form, provide your email address to register for our newsletter, and provide a form to apply to our retreat programs. The data we collect may be used to contact you for marketing and advertising and to inform you about services, offers, and news that you may find interesting via email, as long as you have given your consent in compliance with the legal requirements. 1. Right to access: You can know and verify your legal consent with our processing of your data. You can access your personal data and may receive additional information about processing these data. 2.
